How the book was checked
The plates of Glowing Bugs are the artist’s vision. Everything printed beside them is natural history, and it was checked.
All 303 plates were compared with the anatomy of the real animals: the number of legs, the wings, the antennae, the markings. Plates that failed were replaced. Each of the 101 species has its scientific name, a range map and a view at its true size. Every fact is traced to its source, and the sources are printed at the back.
The plates are artistic interpretations and do not show the true colours of the living animal, and the book says so on every plate.
