A city-wide open-air exhibition
Twenty-four buildings, one walk, by day and by night

The largest exhibition has no walls of its own. Twenty-four creatures, cut to their outline and five to ten metres across, are fixed to twenty-four buildings across a town, and people walk from one to the next. It is made for a municipality and its sponsors.
How it works
- The works: twenty-four creatures, each printed and cut to the outline of the animal, with no background, so that it sits directly on the building
- The sizes: twelve at 5 × 5 metres, eight at 7 × 7 and four at 10 × 10, the largest marking the squares and river crossings
- The walk: about four to five kilometres, two hours at an easy pace, with shorter loops for families
- At each stop: the name of the animal, one fact, and a code that opens its page of the book
- How long: a season, for example from spring to autumn
By night
Lamps at the foot of each wall bring up the colours after dark. With projection mapping, moving light is thrown onto the print: wings beat, a body breathes, a firefly pulses, and the animal seems to live on the wall.
What it brings to the town
- A free event in the open air, for every resident
- A reason to walk the town, and to come from elsewhere
- A subject for schools: a class can follow the trail
- Attention to nature and biodiversity, where everyone passes
Who does what
The artist and his team provide the works, the choice of animals, the design of the trail, the texts and the lighting. The municipality provides the buildings, the permissions and the route. A sponsor supports the production, in return for its presence beside the largest works in the city.

Questions
What does the municipality need to provide?
The buildings and the owners’ agreement, the permits, the route and its safety, and the town’s own communication. Fixing works of this size needs a structural check for each building.
How is it funded?
Usually by the municipality together with one or more sponsors, who are named on the trail map and at each stop.
Can an indoor exhibition run at the same time?
Yes. A gallery, museum or hall in the town can show the works indoors, and the books can be launched there.
